When the Marines turned off their lights during Saturday's FA Cup match with Dunston UTS, visiting midfielder Fel Turnbull had an idea: "We can't come back here all the way on Tuesday."

Therefore, when the team seemed to abandon the game when they left the court, Electrician Turnbull made a plan. The 34-year-old told Sportsmail: “I saw an officer of the Marine Corps and asked where the power was cut.”

"I explained that I did this to make a living. The electrician in the club was infected with Covid, so we called him. I fiddled with the circuit breaker in the cabinet and told him what was live and what was not.

Marin found an electrician in Dunston midfield, he looked at the clubhouse fuse box

'We finally let one of the floodlights come on again, and the other shines and helps others to work. Our lads are buzzing-we don't want to go back and forth for another six hours!

What Turnbull didn't know was that his off-court efforts had gone viral on social media. When he returned to the locker room after losing the shootout—he scored—he checked his phone.

'300 messages on WhatsApp! I was thinking, "Huh? What's going on?" In the football Saturday show, the host said: "Can he fix it? Yes, he can!"

"When I played for Darlington, they had a song about me, and they adapted these words on Twitter..." Phil Turnbull, passing precision, midfield magician, emergency electrician! "It's a bit energetic.

Turnbull is also a former teacher, he is undoubtedly the brightest spark in Merseyside this weekend.

In the first round of Merseyside, the floodlights at Marine Travel Arena failed and the game stopped after halftime.

After the referee announced that if the problem could not be resolved before 5 pm, Turnbull faced tremendous pressure and the game would have to be cancelled.

In the end, the 34-year-old player was unable to solve the problem on his own because he did not carry tools with him, but assistance arrived and the game resumed after a 50-minute delay.

If the issue cannot be resolved by the 5 pm deadline, the game will be at risk of suspension

After the problem was resolved, Marine’s Twitter account announced the resumption of the game at 5:05 pm

Marin-the famous Tottenham Hotspur team in the third round of the FA Cup in January-thanks Turnbull for his efforts and tweeted: "Thanks to @dunstonutsfc player Philip Turnbull for trying to fix our floodlight light."

The game, watched by 1202 spectators, restarted in the 53rd minute with a score of 0-0. In the end it ended 2-2, and Marine won 5-4 in the penalty shootout.

The electric hero did try to save his team when he scored in the penalty shootout, but Turnbull's heroic performance on the court proved to be a failure.

Marin was not the only non-league team with technical problems over the weekend. The floodlights were also cut off during Saturday's National League South game between Hampton and Richland Football Club against Braintree Town.

The Merseyside Club is very grateful for the midfielder’s efforts on social media

But Hampton and Richmond were not as lucky as Marin. They had the expertise of Turnbull. The game was finally suspended and Braintree led 1-0.

The club’s Twitter account read: “The ground blackout means that the match between Braintree Towns is officially cancelled.

"We apologize for this and advise those who have tickets for today's game to keep them. More information about the rescheduled game will be announced soon."

Moreover, Hampton and Richmond couldn't help but joking with the Merseyside Club about their mutual misfortune on Twitter.
